Knitting Knews

So, I had finally finished the first half of the Through The Loops mystery sock. It came out okay! I managed to follow the more complicated instructions as well so I'm pretty chuffed with myself.
The problem is that I'm not -totally- in love with the pattern, so I have been dragging my feet on getting the second sock done.

What I WANT to work on is Endpaper Mitts, I even had the yarn all set to go and everything. Then I noticed that both the sock and the mitts were to be done on the same size needle.
So my big idea was; cast on for the sock. So that if I wanted to get the mitts done, I HAD to finish the second sock!

Well, this was all well and good until I got all the way through the cuff and realized that I had cast on too many stitches and I would have to frog all of it and start again. ARGH!
I got so angry that I just frogged it all and pushed it off to the side :P
I'm sure my grumpiness at the project will pass and I'll get  back to it one day.
Until then, the first completed sock isn't going to waste!

Needle-holder

It's making a fantastic needle holder.

Endpaper Mitts WIP

And I've moved on to the mitts. :D

For x-mas presents for my brother and dad, I gave them a choice of a knit garment; they could pick what they want and what colour it should be.
David's asked for some gloves to match a black knit cap he got from Santa, and Dad's asked for a hat (blue)
So I'm sure those will be gotten to soon!

What yarn is that on the mitts, the dark blue one? Looks like Zarina, one I used for armwarmers. :)

Great eyes!
The solid, navy blue yarn is actually Debbie Bliss Cashmerino (which oh mah gawd, is just HEAVEN to knit with)
And the pretty variegated yarn is Zarina Print (baby) the extrafine Merino version. (also just as lovely to work with!)

I was a bit worried I wouldn't like how they'd come together but I'm up to my third repeat of the pattern and I'm happy to say those worries were ungrounded!
