Bottle Brush

I'm a bit brain-dead. Lots of stuff going on, been very busy... not all of it positive, but none of it terrible.
Because of this I can't put two thoughts together so have some pretty pictures instead.

Taken on September 20, 2009. The bottle brush tree in our front yard is in full bloom. It's one of my favourite trees in the world right now!
In particular I enjoy the jaunty "mustache" that one bendy leaf gives me. But that's the kind of mind frame I'm in at the moment!

I love bottle brushes. Know who else loves bottle brushes?

Lorikeet

Lori's love bottle brushes.

For being such a common and colourful parrot around here, they are surprisingly difficult to photograph. They are shy, and seem to have this uncanny ability to duck behind a branch at the very last second before you hit the shutter release.

Or a flower.

But if you have a bit of patience you can manage to get some semi-decent shots.

(Dear Readers: I have spent the past five minutes spinning this photo in all sorts of directions and I STILL can't figure out which way is up. I'm pretty sure this is not correct, but it looks alright, and none of the other directions look quite "right" either... I give up!)

Anyways...

And bottle brushes...
