Happy New Year!

Riberry Punch

It's funny; although on occasion I do miss a snowy "white" Christmas, I can not imagine spending New Years on anything but a steamy, hot summer's day.

It's been a while, hasn't it?
Life got a bit busy the last half of last year; namely I took on a second TAFE course (Bookkeeping) on top of the one I was already doing (Horticulture) as well as the various voluntary and family commitments I take up as often as possible. In general, my presence online was very slim.
That's all done now, I passed both my courses and have even managed to survived the Silly Season that is the last few weeks of the year, and here I am!

It's a new year! Happy 2011 to you all! I hope you all had a very nice New Year and are looking forward to the months to come. I know I am!

I've made a couple of Resolutions for the new year.

1. Get in shape. That's everyone's number 1 isn't it? Well I'm no different. I want to get back into routine exercises as much as I can. Look into a couple classes that are available in my area. I've also signed up to SparkPeople.com and is proving to be interesting and useful (although the nutrition tracker is utterly useless, I don't use it)

2. Wear more skirts. I have them, I even have some nice new ones I found at op shops. So I should wear them more often.

3. Post more blog posts then I did in 2010. I've only signed up for one TAFE course in the coming year (the next Horticulture Certificate, woo!!) So hopefully I should still be able to have free time to feel up to making decent, routine blog posts.

4. Increase my online presence. I have a higher monthly bandwidth for internet now, which is exciting! I now no longer feel so guilty about spending time online and uploading my photos. I want to comment more on the blogs I read and participate more in conversations going on in forums that I read. I know how appreciative I am when someone comments on my posts, so I need to really start going out of my way and commenting in posts that I like!

I'm sure that there will be more, good intentions are always ongoing, right?
It's good to be back.

Haha, of course it's the memory of snow you get after you go two to three years without seeing any of it, I suppose!

I just miss a snowy christmas, not endless months of heavy, cold, miserable, slush and sniffles and all the rest that goes with having cold winters! *grins*

I'd still pick this climate over that any day! I can ride a bike year round here with noooo troubles.

I'm LEONALIONESS on spark, friend me!

Also, I've been tracking food at spark damn near religiously for going on three years. I think it's a nice, easy to use system once you've got it down. I track fast like whoa now. ;) The secret is adding stuff to your favorites and making stuff you always eat together into groupings. Like, I've got my normal oatmeal/almond milk/chia seed/banana/PB2 breakfast concoction set as a group so it's one click to enter it. :)

I dunno, I love precision and tracking and all that crap. Calorie counting bugs some folks but I seem to really like the relative accuracy, etc. Hell, I even weigh my food and track stuff like produce/oats/nut butters in grams since that tends to be more accurate than cups, tsp, tbs, etc. ;) I'm just a tiny bit obsessive and love order.

However, I don't use the meal planner as that IS useless for a vegan. :P

Re: <3
Also, happy new year, gorgeous!
Looking forward to seeing you around online more often. :D

I imagine now that my running racing season is done (did a 5k on New Year's Day and it was SO awful. Bitter bitter cold. And now I know what it'd be like to run without any toes...) I'll be around more often, too. Training for those two marathons so close together ate up my time with hours of long runs. I'm taking it easy until spring - 20/25 miles week rather than 30-40. :) I'll have so much more time to waste online. LOL.

<3 you!

Happy New Year to you too, beautiful!

Congratulations on all of your racing, I'm so proud of you!
Looking forward to seeing more from you too in the new year as well then! :D

Re: <3
D'awww, thanks!

I freely admit to being a bit crazy. I did learn a valuable lesson: two marathons only 8 weeks apart = no. don't do it. ow. That was ROUGH! My feet and legs still aren't quite healed up 100% from that race in FL right before Giftmas so I'm taking 'er easy currently.

I don't have another race until a Half in March, tons of time to slack off! ;) I should look into races in your neck of the woods. I love traveling around and running different cities. :D

Re: <3
Well, the worst annoyance of it is that Australian food packaging is nowhere near American food packaging, so absolutely everything I would use I would have to input it by myself.
Secondly, I home cook just about everything I eat, and I use mostly fresh ingredients not packaged, and I don't usually measure I just kind of toss things into a pot.. and then I don't measure out my servings.
And I like variety, so groupings don't really work for me (except for breakfast which I try and keep steady, although I switch up my cereal grains twice weekly or so).
So I really can't be bothered! :P

Everything else is very nice now that I've got the hang of the site.

Re: <3
Hehe, yeah, I can see how that doesn't work so well with how you do things!

I use the recipe calculator for homemade stuff, weigh and enter my fresh ingredients... I'll even sit there and carefully dole out portions as close to evenly as I can. But, again, a bit obsessive. I'm working on it since it's a bit problematic and making me weirder about food than I'd ideally like to be. :/

Trying to ease off tracking and trust myself. I've been this lower weight for over a year but I'm still so so jumpy about regaining and am just a bit off in my brain... Well, friend me and you'll see my blog about it! LOL. ;)

It IS a great site with great people. :)
My best friend IRL is there, too, and she was just featured on the daily spark blog and is in the new paperback copy of the Spark book! Exciting!!! :D
